The Claiming Documents - Business

The discussion below provides a general overview as to the documents required to
recover property for businesses. The holder of the abandoned property will provide
to the claimant a detailed listing of the documents to be submitted.
Property Type
The documents required in support of a claim will vary depending on the type of property
being held (i.e. stocks, taxes, deposits) and whether the property is being held by a
company or other agency.
Authorization
If you are an officer or other official claiming on behalf of a corporation, partnership or
other organization be prepared to present documents in support of your authority to act on
behalf of the organization. Photocopies of the following may be acceptable; notarized
affidavit, income tax return, business registration, corporate filings, banking authorization.
Association
Proof associating the organization with property being held. Photocopies of the
following may be acceptable; contract, invoice, cancelled check, stock certificate, court
documents.
Proof associating the organization with the address registered with the abandoned
property; utility bill, tax return, invoice, tax filing bank book.
